Jurmala – street lighting

    Jurmala was one of the first cities in Latvia to replace gas-discharge streetlights with highly efficient LED luminaires through the co-financing of KPFI funds. We have had the opportunity of providing Jurmala city a LED street lighting solution made by manufacturer CREE and they were used for illuminating the road section from the Talsi highway to the center of Jurmala.

The main advantages of CREE LED street lighting are compared to gas discharge solutions:
• high energy efficiency;
• high color rendering Ra70 or CRI70, which makes using public roads safer since the drivers are able to distinguish more colors;
• a wide range of optics provides a more efficient use of emitted light for virtually any street profile;
• with the help of an appropriate optic, the area behind the pole (between the carriageway and the adjoining area) is also illuminated, thus reducing the tunnel effect and increasing the level of safety;
• extensive control options include dimming, remote control, autonomous power reduction at night, thus achieving up to 30% energy savings;
• 0% up light that eliminates light pollution;
• 10 years factory warranty and up to 150 000h lifetime

    In addition to street lighting, we also helped with the beautiful wooden walkway between dunes and the coast. We used Italian manufacturer's iGuzzini WOW system luminaires with two-level mounting and curved decorative poles, with small blue-light beacons inserted at the top as a nice accent.
